Grade 409 Stainless Steel: Strength and Heat Resistance
Our Grade 409 Stainless Steel is a ferritic steel renowned for its outstanding mechanical properties and resistance to high-temperature oxidation. Rust Resistance and Limitations
While the rust resistance of 1.4512 Coil is excellent, it falls slightly below that of grade 430 steel with 17% chromium. The surface layer of UNS S40900 SS sheets is crucial in mitigating corrosion, which may limit their use in specific design applications.
Exceptional Scaling Resistance
Our UNS S40900 stainless steel plates and sheets exhibit remarkable scaling resistance, performing reliably at temperatures up to 675 degrees Celsius in regular operations and up to 815 degrees Celsius under fluctuating conditions. 1.4512 SS Sheets and plates remain resilient at temperatures ranging from 790 to 900 degrees Celsius before air-cooling. It’s important to note that Stainless Steel UNS S40900 Plates do not undergo toughening through thermal treatment. SS 1.4512 sheets, plates, and coils should be preheated to temperatures between 150 and 260 degrees Celsius for welding.
