Carbon is responsible for the hardness and strength exhibited by stainless steel alloys, but unfortunately, it is also an element that promotes corrosion. Therefore, it becomes necessary to find a way to retain the properties bestowed by carbon while reducing the corrosion factor, if not eliminating it. This is where 310S plates step in, with a proportion of carbon reduced but enough for the plates to maintain their mechanical properties. Along with the lowering of carbon, the fraction of chromium compared to nickel also enhances its chemical properties, particularly the resistance it displays against corrosion.

The stainless steel 310S plates with a carbon reduction are used primarily for their ease of fabrication. Another important property for which the plates are employed is their increased resistance against corrosion, especially intergranular corrosion. When corrosion resistance is coupled with high thermal stability, we get an alloy plate that exhibits high-temperature corrosion resistance; that is, it is not only resistant to corrosive agents at moderate temperatures but successfully manages to tackle both corrosive agents as well as soaring temperatures while also functioning at an efficient rate. The plates are further fully operational in the presence of sulphur in the environment.
The highly stable 310-grade stainless steel plates with an abundance of mechanical and chemical properties are utilized in the combustion chamber, refractory anchor bolts, retorts, saggers, food processing, cryogenic equipment, petroleum refineries, steam boilers, radiant tubes, kilns, fluidized bed combusters, etc.
After production is completed, some tests are conducted on the plates to check if they stand full on the quality expectations. After that, they are sent for packaging and then dispatched. All the steps, from manufacturing to packaging and delivery, as well as the tests, are all completed under the guidelines and norms for the same.
