Stainless steel 411 grade belongs to the 400 series and is known for its ferritic structure that enables it to attain stability. What distinguished the 441 grade from the other grades in the series is the presence of a higher amount of chromium than the rest and the introduction of niobium and titanium into the chemical composition. The systematic addition of these two elements in predetermined quantities allows them to grant the plates corrosion-resistant properties. Both elements are known to prevent intergranular corrosion by preventing chromium carbide precipitation formation, notably depleting the chromium proportion. Since chromium is the element responsible for protecting the plates against corrosion, titanium and niobium enable the plates to preserve their corrosive property.

The alloys that retain their strength even in extreme temperature conditions are said to possess excellent thermal stability, which is the case with stainless steel 441 plates. The stainless steel grade in consideration displays efficient functioning at elevated temperatures without succumbing to stress corrosion or similar damage attributed to soaring temperature conditions. Potential corrosion-causing agents also accompany stressful conditions, and 441-grade plates are known to protect themselves against corrosive gases. The plates also tackle intergranular corrosion, and so is the creep resistance. In oxidative environments, the plates operate without difficulties since they resist oxidation. The remarkably stable 441 plates also display good weldability and ductility.
